Sharing 5 Backyard Ideas To Add To Your Abode

Your backyard can be a sanctuary, party venue, playground, garden, or all of the above—it is up to you. Here are five backyard ideas for designing the backyard of your dreams.

1.Plant a Garden

A garden will add some charm and beauty to your yard, while still being functional. Plant some of your favorite fruits and vegetables and enjoy the convenience of having fresh, organic food at a moment’s notice. Gardening can be a fun hobby and a great way to teach your kids about hard work. Section off a small corner or large area of your lawn depending on what kind of commitment you’d like to make. You can grow a few tomatoes and carrots, or you can choose things that take more space like corn, melons, and pumpkins.

2. Create Your Own Park

Instead of hauling your kids and all their toys to the park, create your own play area in your back yard. Leave some open space for soccer, dodge-ball and tag. Then install a swing-set or slide to add some of the park’s most alluring features.

3. Invest in Privacy

Build a fence or plant some tall shrubs to add some privacy to your backyard. It will keep your kids and pets safer, and make your yard more peaceful by reducing noise from nearby roads. Adding a fence and shrubs lets you have your backyard to yourself. You can sunbathe in peaceor let your kids and pets play without worrying about their safety.

4. Keep Things Low Maintenance

You want your back yard to be a place you can enjoy, not a chore, so do what you can to keep things low maintenance.

If you build a patio or fire pit, consider using asphalt instead of concrete. According to Superior Asphalt Paving Ltd, asphalt is “easier to maintain, and out-performs concrete in cold weather.” They explain: “Its greater elasticity grants it more freedom to expand and contract in cold or warm weather, so fewer cracks appear. Any the cracks that do appear are easily filled in and blended with the rest of the surface.”

Plant perennial flowers so you don’t have to redo your planters every year. Choose trees that don’t need a lot of trimming and plant drought resistant grass so you don’t have to water often. Choose plants that are native to your area so they grow naturally with little help.

5. Be Entertainment Ready

Outdoor parties are a great way to enjoy time with family and friends or get to know your neighbors. Instead of staying indoors where things can get cramped and loud, move your party outside.

To create a fun and relaxing party environment consider adding a patio, lawn chairs and a fire-pit to your back yard. If you want to keep your projects simpler and less expensive, string up some white Christmas lights and set out some blankets.

Follow these five tips to create a back yard you, your family, and your friends will enjoy all year long.
