Italian architecture and Italian interiors are some of the most beautiful spaces that you will ever see. This is especially true when it comes to Tuscan Farmhouse styles. However the Italians needn’t be the only ones to enjoy this. You too can add some Italian Tuscan Farmhouse style flourishes to your home for a touch of the rustic.

Vintage Furniture

A great way to add some Tuscan style to your home is to invest in some vintage furniture. Some good examples include vintage picture frames and mirrors or perhaps a classic Florentine chest of drawers?

Table Settings

Seek out some classic and/or vintage Italian tablecloths (no not the red and white ones from Italian restaurants in the 80s) as a starting point for an Italian table setting. Pair this with some fresh flowers and a bread bowl. Bellisimo.

Textiles

Italian textiles have a worldwide reputation for beauty and elegance. Bring in some Italian textiles to your home to add some understated charm. Good places to use Italian textiles are on living room chairs or sofa throws.

Accessorise Rustic Style

Use some rustic Italian accessories, especially around the kitchen to give an old world Italian feel to the space. A good but bold example is an animal head above the stove, however this would only work in bigger kitchens! You can also hang vintage cooking pots on the wall- this doubles as both useable kitchen equipment and interior décor.

Gravel Drive

If you have a house with a drive then making said drive a gravel drive will give it an authentic Italian feel. Gravel is a great driveway material: it is available in many colours, it is low cost and it is low maintenance. A win win win scenario I think.

Al Fresco

Eating outside is a great pleasure and something that is also quintessentially Italian. In this warm weather we are experiencing there is no better time to get some garden chairs and a table and sit outside and eat. If you are remodelling your house and developing the garden it might be a good idea set an area aside for just such an occasion. If you are lucky and the building/development plans allow for it you could include an area with overhead protection- known as a loggia. This will mean you can use the space more often in less favourable weather.

Farm Table

Farm tables are great for a number of reasons. They provide a homely charm to your kitchen/dining room, are tough as anything and they can withstand knocks and nicks. In fact such damage is practically encouraged, as it adds to the aesthetic appeal of the table.
