Simply having a backyard is precious. It gives you a perfect space for leisure, relaxation and pleasant times with your friends and family. However, it seems that all the backyards look the same and that everybody is just doing the same thing with that space over and over again.

Therefore, if you want to do something special, you need to get some cool ideas and make them happen in your backyard. Here are five pretty much cool ideas that you can use and make your backyard stand out from all the others.

Kids’ Playground

Of course, everybody can get some of those plastic toys and throw them around the backyard, making it easy for kids to play. However, the real playground really takes some work and time and it is simply perfect for kids. You will need a serious sand pit, all dug up, with concrete walls and sand in it. You will need pathways and an artificial creek with a little bridge on it.

You will need tree houses and wooden see-saws, not to mention the swings and a little pond in which the creeks end. If you don’t have that, you can hardly find a place to let the paper boats float. It all seems like an overwhelming task, but it is actually quite doable and the instructions are easily found online.

Hammocks

This is the perfect thing for a backyard of a person who loves spending time relaxing with friends. All those sitting arrangements with plastic chairs and tables are so dull and they are everywhere. If you want something like that, you can go to a café.

However, if you want something more fun and different, you will need a system of wooden or strong metal pillars that are strong enough to hold many hammocks that hang on them, filled with cushions and an occasional blankie.

Secluded Tea Party

You need a little bit of a green thumb for this one and a taste for romantic sceneries and occasions. You need to make a plan of labyrinth that you will make by using some thick shrubbery. It will need a lot of maintenance but it is worth it. In the middle of it, you need some wonderful wisteria plants for a cover or a wooden frame that will be used to let some interesting crawlers grow on it. At the heart of that you need some beautiful, vintage, preferably iron chairs and table.

Backyard Bar

Especially if the climate allows you to do such a thing, you should go and try to make that tropic bar in your backyard. You need water and pipelines done by a professional, but you can do all the other stuff on your own. Wooden platform with pillars, covered by cane roofing and a bar in it is just perfect. You can use the wooden pallets to make the furniture and stay in the style. A couple of colorful cushions on them will make the whole thing just amazing.

DIY Heaven

If you are one of those people who just loves doing something with their hands, it is a very cool idea to make that backyard your DIY heaven. This doesn’t mean that you need to throw all your tools all over the place, but you can make it far easier and far better to organize them, store them and still have the chance to work on the fresh air and under the sun.

The key to this is the usage of one of those shipping containers. One of the benefits is the fact that you can remove the walls of that thing and put them back on. In other words, choose a wall that will be solid and that won’t move. Fill it with shelves and drawers and store your power tools and whatnots for your DIY projects. The other walls should be free, as you can transform that storage unit into a semi-opened space for DIY projects and then pack it up into a big box, preferably painted into something interesting, when you are done.

With these ideas, you will never grow tired of your backyard and you will be able to tailor it to your needs and desires, making it your own piece of relaxing heaven.
