5 Great Tips To Beautify Your Home

No matter how similar your home is to the other homes on your block, there are many things you can do to make it unique. Personalizing your home doesn’t have to be expensive or time consuming. A few simple touches will make it feel like your own without being overwhelming. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Add Splashes of Color

Painting an entire wall in a bright color may not be feasible for you, but you can add splashes of color to your decor in the form of pillows, vases or artwork. Choose just one or two of your favorite colors to incorporate into a room and use them sparingly for maximum impact.

Showcase Your Interests

One of the most fun ways to add personality to your home is incorporating design elements that fit your personality. Don’t go overboard tying everything into your theme, but unique pieces of furniture or wall hangings will make your home look personalized. For example, a family who loves to fish may have their bathroom decorated with rowboats, fishing lures and similar items. A few fishing-themed decor pieces may be on the walls in the living room and dining rooms. Use custom labels to give visitors information about key pieces that are important in your lives.

Make A Photo Collage

Instead of taking up an entire wall in the living room with framed photographs in rows, consider creating a collage of the best photos of each member of your family. Use candid photos as much as possible because they are more likely to tell the story of your lives than posed shots.

Purchase Furniture Carefully

A new set of furniture from a department store may look fresh and modern, but it doesn’t bring personality into the room. Consider purchasing at least a couple of furniture pieces that show your personality, even if they aren’t a matched set. It doesn’t matter if your pieces came from several different countries as long as they fit in with the flow and decor of your rooms.

Be Creative

You may not be able to find exactly the pieces you are looking for in department stores, so scour flea markets and thrift stores for the items you are looking for. Your home will look even more unique if you give up looking for the right furniture and decor items and create them yourself instead. It make take a few tries to get your pieces to look the way you want them, but there is nothing more personal than a piece of furniture that you designed and created with your own hands.
