Few cool tips for decorating a bachelor pad

A bachelor pad is a very unique decorating challenge due to its very specific nature. It is an apartment where a bachelor will live and it needs to be all about freedom and comfort. On the other hand, it also needs to be sleek and elegant so that people love spending time there and so that the ladies who might visit the apartment have an improved opinion on the owner. And then again, this type of apartment should never be too sleazy or boyish. Here are some tips to help you hit that sweet middle.

Determine your ‘theme’

You will often hear about themes in interior decoration and for the most part, these are pretty constricting and can end up causing you more headache than anything else. However, when we are talking a bachelor pad, it is quite important to come up with at least some sort of a general theme, or otherwise you might go in all directions and end up with a mess that will look more like a dorm room than a bachelor pad.

For example, you can go with the retro theme and feature plastic furniture in your kitchen, brightly colored furniture and perhaps a pinball machine. Maybe even a lava lamp. Or, you can go all futuristic and sleek, with a living room that will look like the covers of the design magazines, with clear lines and very few colors, if any. These are just some of the examples.

Pay attention to the bedroom

In most cases, the bedroom in a bachelor pad is mostly going to be used for very limited periods of time and this is why many bachelors who are decorating their apartments tend to forget about their living room and end up with bedrooms that no one wants to spend time in; which can be a problem for the bachelor.

The best advice is to keep things simple in the bedroom, with nice clear lines, muted colors, a spacious bed, a lamp and perhaps TV. If you want you can call up some pros with plastering services and have them do some wall decorations. It is always better to go this way in the bedroom than with too much color.

Tech and gadgets

Single guys are the target audience for gadget manufacturers and tech companies and it is no wonder that you will be finding plenty of technology in bachelor pads. And really, that is the right place for all those gadgets, like a system that controls the entire apartment, the lights, the fridge, the TV, the surround, everything. If you happen to be a techy bachelor, then by all means, go crazy and fill your apartment with anything you like.

The kitchen

It is far more likely than not that the kitchen is going to be the least used room in the bachelor apartment, but this should not mean that it can be transformed into storage space or something where all the different types of molds grow. You still need to have a functioning kitchen that looks at least presentable.

As far as the dining area goes, our suggestion would be counter tables and high chairs that always look cool and that will also save you plenty of space which you can use to expand your living room a bit; if that is the layout of the apartment of course.

Closing word

In short, it is essential that you have as much fun with your bachelor pad as possible, but still make it look respectable and elegant. There is nothing sadder than a bachelor pad that looks like a college room. Make sure your bachelor pad does not look like one.
