You can use different pieces of furniture that share a cozy look, while making them blend with each other in the same color family. Another idea is to use a theme in the rooms of the home. You can use a different theme in each room, as long as you have the items to complete the look and a tie in to make the whole home cohesive. Take a look at these tips for getting started on redecorating your home. Paint When you begin a remodeling project that involves creating a theme in the living room, kitchen or bedrooms, you should start with the walls. Make sure you have colors of paint or wallpaper that will accent the decorations you use. Neutral colors are good, but try to add a border with items of the theme or color you plan to use. If you use a theme that has soft colors, then a carpet would work. However, if you are using something with bright colors or darker decorations, then consider installing a hardwood or laminate floor and adding in rugs later. According to Certified Flooring Installation Inc, hardwood can also aid in keeping the floor clean. Large Furniture This will often be the easiest part of designing the theme for the room. Use pieces that are the same color or pattern. If you are working in the living room, then use the same fabrics throughout, instead of getting a leather couch and a cloth chair. When working in a bedroom, avoid using items that are darker in shades than others. This can make the room appear cluttered and uncoordinated. Accents Depending on the theme of the room, use small accents in order to tell the story. A nautical theme might include seashells or lighthouses, while a country theme might include apples or barns. You can use a few different pictures or accents, but don’t use too many as the theme will begin to get lost, and no one will be able to tell what they are looking at when entering. The decals come in all sizes and designs, making it easy to find something for any room of the home. Your home is a place that should show a little character. Making it something unique is easy to do when you use a theme for each room. Consider making the walls a coordinating color with the decorations, and change the flooring if needed to make the contents of the room come together.
