Boring Bathroom? Five Great Ways to Make Your Washroom Wonderful

Your bathroom is seen on a daily basis—by both your family and visitors to your home. Knowing this, why would you settle for anything less than exciting? Invest in these great ways to give your bathroom the makeover it deserves.

Painting

Painting can be as simply as one color on the walls or as complex as patterns and textures. This can be especially gratifying if you are on a limited budget. Sometimes all a bathroom needs to feel bigger are some well-placed vertical stripes. Just be sure to invest in higher quality paint, as it will be able to withstand the growth of mildew and mold much better.

Tile

Found in all shapes and colors, tile is a great way to take a rather basic design and transform it into something far more romantic. While some may opt for the classic white, many are turning toward stone as this material is much more absorbent. How you lay it out is up to you. Go for a horizontal stripe across the wall if you are limited on money but still want some decoration.

Fixtures

This includes all of the little things. Shower heads, towel holders, faucets and lighting fixtures all make up small details that can either add or detract from the bathroom’s character. The upgrades don’t have to be expensive either. Instead of shopping catalogues, determine the bathroom’s theme and build from there. For instance, if you have a ski motif, use a ski blade mounted to the wall as a towel holder.

Clean

Grout and caulk get filthy very quickly. If they are white, they look dirtier even faster, making your bathroom seem much grimier than it actually is. For both, either invest in an electronic cleaner or pull out an old toothbrush and a cup of diluted bleach. You would be amazed at what a visual difference clean caulk and grout make.

Lighting

The lights in the bathroom do not have to be strictly located above the vanity nor do they have to be a row of gigantic bulbs. Think of changing this up with lights that are fitted on either side of the mirror. Also, try out different shapes and colors. While some may enjoy a stark white light, a good many latch on to warmer yellows.

Whether fully gutting the bathroom or looking for a relatively cheap upgrade, you can make it happen. Try out these great alternatives to make it more homey than sterile.
