Sensational Staircase: 4 Ways to Highlight Your Stairway

4 Ways to Highlight Your Stairway

Okay, so the stairway in your home may or may not lead to Heaven. However, wouldn’t it be nice if it at least looked like it did? There are tons of creative ways to highlight a staircase and make it fit cohesively with the décor in the rest of the home. The stairway doesn’t need to be an exclusive entity in the décor. Consider these four different ways to accentuate the stairway in the home.

1. Send a Message

Is there a popular saying or favorite quote of the family? Think about the morals the family lives by. Why not share these values through a message on the staircase? This can be done a number of ways. Wall stickers and customizable sticker quotes continue to grow in popularity. If these stickers are easily attached to a wall, the same effect can happen on a staircase. Stairway decals are an inexpensive and charismatic way of sending warm and special messages to guests as well as to those who live in the home. Stencils are another way. While they are a lot more time-consuming than decals, they still serve as a beautiful reminder of creativity and love.

2. Add a Fresh Coat of Paint

After purchasing a home, homeowners hold the luxury of doing almost anything they want to do with their new purchase. If the carpet is currently on the staircase, rip it up. Sand down the stairs and add a lovely coat of paint. A wooden stain always adds a clean, polished look to a staircase, too.

3. Install an Iron Gate

Nothing presents a polished look like an iron railing for a staircase. Railings come in all sorts of colors and styles. Riverside Ironwork Canada Inc. and others provide exquisite detail and cause marveling at the details to become an irresistible response.

4. Add a Runner

For those who want the beauty of both worlds, with the carpet and an exposed staircase, a runner is a happy medium. Runners are great for adding elegance and depth to a room. After painting the stairs evenly without a chosen color or stain, attach a runner to the length of the staircase. This process requires a lot of nails, staples, and some heavy-duty tools. If needed, consider calling professionals for this one.

These are a few of the beautiful ways to emphasize a staircase and make it shine as a centerpiece in the home. Once they are executed well, these tips will hopefully inspire guests to at least think they’re arrived at the stairway to Heaven!
