Things to Remember When Setting Up a Home Bar

Are you disappointed with the fact that your house doesn’t have a proper area where you can sit with your friends and chill out? Are you tired of trying to find out the perfect solution to this problem? If yes, what is your take on the idea of setting up a bar area in your home? I know the expression on your face right now, and its a look of skepticism – a fear of spending a lot of money on something which is hard to put together. Well, there is a good news. You don’t have to go for heavy renovations, or spend too much on it. A home bar is easy to set up, and all the more easy to maintain.

Let’s have a look at some of the things you need to keep in mind when setting up a home bar:

The Goal is Not a Pub

It’s your personal bar, and therefore, having the bare essentials is not an issue. It is a home bar where you will stack up the liquor and the bar tools. So, you need to keep in mind that setting up bar counter to accommodate 20 people is definitely not the thing you would want in your house. Moreover, buying a massive fridge and beer kegs is going to be pretty heavy on the pocket. Keep things small and tidy. Even a little open area in the living room is enough to set up an adequate home bar.

Keep Things Very Simple

You need to get this straight! Spending too much money will not guarantee an awesome home bar. If are planning to go for a counter top, make sure that it is short. Small bar cabinets and bar kits are easy to find, easy to set up and maintain. If this idea is too much for your budget to consider, you can go for a simple table. However, just make sure that it is strong enough to absorb a few unintentional bumps during the festivities.

Choosing the Liquor Smartly

You don’t have to stock up hundreds of bottles, you know! Have 10 different types of liquor, but having 10 different types of vodka in a home bar is lame. Take an expert advice and start with the basics. Purchase a bottle each of rum, scotch, bourbon, vodka, and gin. Keeping these items in stock will help you cover a lot of drinking bases. Add some extra booze if you want to make cocktails or martinis.

So keep these points in mind, and you’ll end up setting up an amazing home bar which is going to make your guests jealous for sure!
